This is a clever thriller. It wasn't quite what I expected but I enjoyed it. We have 10 selected applicants to participate in a beta test for a less than honorable corporation that has teamed up with the CIA with their technology that claims they can find anyone, anywhere, anytime. The 10 candidates are challenged to go off grid and remain undetected for 30 days. If they manage this task they will win 3 million dollars. The chapters count down the remaining time. It is mostly told from the perspective of our protagonist, Zero 10. We know some things are not quite what they seem with her pretty early on. There are hints that leave us questioning her agenda even as we root for her. We also have the perspective of the founders of Fusion Corporation and their determination to capture all 10 as billions of dollars are on the line. One problem I had with the book is that we really aren't given much depth into 9 of the 10 candidates. We are given bits and pieces about who they are and what their plan is but it's mostly vague. Interesting but not engrossing. Still, we follow Zero 10 and learn more about her as we go. Then we get some answers just past the halfway mark and it begins to pick up the pace. I didn't get the ending I was hoping for but it's an acceptable ending, I think? I do recommend as it's a different kind of thriller.
