I find that military spouses are often overly critical of their peers when evaluating their peers, so there are very mixed reviews about Sarah's writing.
Personally, I find her work to be refreshing because it comes from her. When I first started reading this book I couldn't help thinking, "Well, I cannot relate to this at ALL!" and I threw the book off to the side and forgot about it. But then, I started to realize that Sarah is writing about Sarah, not me. So, I looked at the book as I might one of Sophie Kinsella's (Shopaholic Series) or any other chick lit writer and I loved the book.
Ironically, now I actually know and work with Sarah and find her to be an amazingly thoughtful person. She is candidly funny and that permeates her work, so the read is quite easy and exciting. I don't think her work needs to be limited to 'just' military wives. I think anyone who likes a sense of humor would enjoy Sarah's writing.

One of the best books I've read concerning the lifestyle of being a military wife. I could relate to so many parts of the book and was so disappointed when it ended.

Good read and being Retired AF married to AF, I can also relate to all she went through but at the same time hope spouses do not put this much pressure on their deployed spouse. Spouses are the backbone of the military and our guys/gals need them to be strong and take care of all they leave behind. Kudos to all spouses of our military. Stay strong!

I have fallen in love with this writer. She shares all the chaotic and embarrassing feelings that many women have when faced with having to care for a family all on her own. Her husband is deployed for an undetermined amount of time which causes her to fall apart. She even shares with the reader the crush she had on her ob/gyn (what an understanding husband she must have, for all the world to know).
Also, it was great to read about someone else falling apart more than I do :-D

A fun and quick read! As a military wife, you will definately relate to her situations!

As a fellow military wife I was very disappointed in this book. The author comes across as a whiner and I'm not sure what the point of writing the book was - sympathy? Maybe civilians might find some, but the military community would read this and just say "buck-up little camper"

I read this book and had to nod my head in agreement with her description of the Navy Spouse Club. I was in the army for several years then married an air force guy. So her description rang true. But as in life, all her experiences weren't the same as mine. But it is a funny acccount of a young mother growing up to the responsibility of being a military wife-dealing with car trouble, endless laundry, bills to be paid and constant separations.
This is a quite interesting book. You may be a military wife or not, but the story will make you cry and laugh, so it did to me. A very touching way to describe what many of us have to go through and the little things that can make our lives more interesting than normal. It is a good read and I recommend it to anyone who has been or will be walking on a military wife shoes...and even if you don't the main character has good tips on how to survive very stressful situations. Just a laugh!
I in the military myself and married to someone in the military thought that this book spoke volumes about what it is like to be a military spouse. This book was light hearted, witty and personal all in the same breath. I laughed and cried, because I know how hard it is and can be. We have all had those days where you just want to pack your bags and go home, but you can't even though many do. You stay and stick it out.
I passed this book alond to all of my military spouse friends and we thought that this book spoke the truth. The unglamorous, honest truth. Great laugh and reprieve from the daily routine, just reassuring knowing that someone else has been there and survived.
Highly recommended.
