We're Going on a Ghost Hunt is written in the same form as We're Going on a Bear Hunt. If your child already knows that, then this slight shift is a fun "spooky" story. I like reading it in the rhythm of the song so that my child can read along. It makes her feel happy that she is reading, even though I know it is just because she has memorized the rhythm of the song. It works really well with some sound effects and movements while you are first reading through the book.

The pictures are cute. Each scene is detailed and the children are a good mix of real features and cartoonish fun. I especially like the drawings of the swamp. The kids pulling their feet out of the muck is pretty cute. Overall, this is a great Halloween time story, but not one that is begged for every night.
