Derrick J. (ravensknight) reviewed The Gods Return (Crown of the Isles, Bk 3) (Lord of the Isles, Bk 9) on + 178 more book reviews
While the Lord of the Isles and the Crown of the Isles series have been predictable from book 2, Drake wraps things up in such a way that I didn't see it coming. I suspect most others will though :-D
There is the usual divide and conquer approach for the group and many of the descriptions are the old tried and true, especially concerning Ilna and Cashel. Despite this, I found myself enjoying this story like it was a brand new series.
The writing seemed a bit more "polished" [perhaps]? It is really hard to describe, but I found everything to be fresh, which was not the case with the previous book, "Mirror of Worlds".
If you have stayed true to this series, and made it to the end, Drake does a wonderful job, imo, of rewarding us loyal readers. Go forth and Ascend ;-)
