I enjoyed both A God in Ruins and Life After Life.

Amazon notes that this is a "companion" book to Life After Life - and it's really true. I strongly recommend that you read Life After Life before reading A God in Ruins. The main characters, the family, the setting - everything is introduced in Life After Life.
