Fascinating and readable history of mathematics (not the whole thing; just the last 26 centuries), all to address the dilemma: Is mathematics an invention or a discovery? Interesting notes and fairly comprehensive bibliography in the back; very up-to-date in that strange field called "philosophy of mathematics." Really!
