The God Eaters is incredibly well-written, and completely unique. It has action, and grit, and a strong love story, and a well thought out plot that is clear enough to be satisfying, but not overly complicated. If you're tired of Sword&Sorcery novels, or of the complex 'political intrigue' type fantasy novels that abound on the shelves these days, this book's old-west, gunslinger feel is really a refreshing change of pace.
I actually found the love story to be a little bit mushier than I usually like, but not unbearably so, and romance fans would probably not feel the same way.
I will warn that the love story is between two men. If that bothers you, don't read it. But, you'll be missing out on a great story! Can't wait to see what else this writer has in store for us.

I can't quite put my finger on why I love this book so much, but it is one of my all time favorites.
There's something about the chemistry between the characters, and the true emotion that just pours off of the page that grabs me.
It's one of the books that stays on my keeper shelf to be taken down every few months and devoured in one sitting, along with a nice pot of tea.

Awsome novel. I first read it online then I had to buy the book. Chartreuse, Jesse Hajicek, posted it online first and then had it published.
Its sort of a cowboy and indians thing, though they are called Iavaians, not indians. A "half-breed" and a white boy are thrown in prison together. They both have "talents" and are put in this prison to be experimented on. The half-breed, Kieran Trevarde(talent: being able to kill a man with his mind) offers to protect Ashleigh Trine(talent: empathy) from the other inmates. Ashleigh accepts.
The man that runs the prison is actually an old god, Thelyan, and he's taken over the body's of all the boys he's been reincarnated into. This god has "eaten" all of the other old gods except for a few he thought would be no threat to him or that he didnt want them to be part of him, like one god is to kind. These few gods have been reincarnated over and over, slowly growing the strength to destroy Thelyan.
It may sound confusing as I cant explain it right but Chartreuse made it very understandable and there is no confusion.

What can I say about this book that everyone else has already said? Well, let me tell you, in a matter of less than two days, I had completely emerged myself in this incredibly believable world that Jesse Hajicek has created. I honestly came into it thinking that it would be a mediocre book at best (honestly, a good number of fantasy/romance books with homosexual relationships are), but I came out with such awe at the author's talent and creativity that my mouth nearly dropped open.
I'm sure that many of you have had the feeling of merging with a story so much that you can see everything vividly in your mind's eye, what's going on, the glint of sand, the thirst for water, but what Hajicek does with his writing is far more than that - it makes you feel what's happening along with the character.
He does not waste his words on a bunch of emotive junk, though; his style is as dry as the desert it describes but in a good way. It's clean, honest, and tinged with just the right amount of wry humor that makes the depressing parts somehow so much funnier. It is clear that the plot is well-thought out and, though I would have liked to see a little more involvement with the main protagonist, the character development was phenomenal. It was so gradual (though NEVER dull) that I didn't even realize until halfway through the book that the main characters had changed so vividly from the time that they had met until then. It takes great skill to flesh out characters so well. By the end of the book, I would have liked to have jumped right into the book and been friends with them! (And trust me, folks, that does not happen often.)
And as for the love-making, I am a very picky person (I find erotica somewhat disturbing yet soft love far too, well, soft) but Hajicek was spot on. It was the perfect balance between erotica and art form and reality that not only got your heart racing but kept you in awe of how well-crafted it was. If you like hardcore erotica, then this is probably not for you. But, on the other hand, if you're the type that gets squeamish from a few kisses, this also might not be the book for you.
