Goat is a memoir that reads like briskly paced fiction. The first part tells of a brutal assault on the author that forever changes the dynamics of his family. In the second portion, Land joins his brother at Clemson University, and pledges to the same fraternity. The violence and humiliation he faces during hazing rituals force he and his brother to come to terms with the incident in his past.
Goat tells a shocking and terrifying story, even more so because it is true.

A very powerful memoir that grabs you with stark and intense language. I read this straight through in one afternoon; could not put it down once I started it. Almost poetic in style and parts were very dark and disturbing, but riveting the entire way through. One of the best I've read this year.
