This lady REALLY knows her stuff. There are lots of basic recipes in this book, such as brownies, bagels, pretzels, pizza dough, crackers, flaky pie crust you'd be proud to serve, even recipes for sauces and toppings, plus lots more comfort foods you've missed since going gluten-free. Her motto is to make it good, period, not just "good for gluten free". Check out her website: glutenfreeonashoestring.com

This is a must-have book for anyone on a GF diet.

There were some really interesting recipes in this book - I tried Matzoh Ball soup (turned out great) and gnocchi (not bad - maybe some technique issues on my part). I have several others marked to try later. Lots of homestyle & asian meals that need tweaks to make them gluten free, along with a pretty standard selection of baking recipes.

On the downside, I didn't get the "on a shoestring" tie-in. Each recipe was compared to what it would cost to buy frozen or premade. Really ... frozen gluten free gnocchi? I have never seen any. And since almost all the recipes involved gluten free flours, they were inherently expensive.

Overall a creative and accessible cookbook, worth a try even if you feel that you've looked through every other gf cookbook out there.
