If you found yourself mildy annoyed, by the dialogue and behavior in the last few books, I want to tell you that the wait is over. Candace, Dutch, Brice and Abby are all acting like grown ups. We less of an emphasis on Abby's Crew talking to her, and more of the crew being called her intuition. I think for that reason, I really enjoyed this book more than the last. It has been some time since I read book 7, so I am gathering It was not the joyous-I cant wait to read book 8-experience. But today, I anxious to start on the next book, which I have right on my bookshelf.
I am from Michigan, and for one, the series didnt feel like it had anything to do with Michigan. But with the characters all moving to Texas, you get a southwest feel to the book. Nice touch. So dive in, this book series has just gotten better.

I really enjoyed this book. The last couple of have not been quite a hit with me, but Ms Laurie has definitely stepped up her game with this book.
I do not know if you actually have to read these books in order, but to understand the character development of Abby Cooper and her friends, it might be a good idea to start at the beginning.
Moving from Boston to Austin, Texas, Abby is following the love of her life, Dutch, to his new job and the two of them will now be members of the newly formed cold case squad. However, for Abby, this is like coming home. Candice is already there and trying to get herself established as a private investigator, Brice Dutch's boss is the head of the new department, her home remodelers and his old lady, and maybe even a police officer from Michigan might show up.
The welcome Abby receives is not as warm as she had hoped- take a bunch of seasoned investigators and they are not going to look too kindly on a psychic. Nevertheless, Abby and Dutch quickly prove that they are a powerhouse when they darn near hit the squads solved case quota in a single day.
As cases seem to come together and a few of them have remarkable similarities, Abby and an almost convinced investigator do a little side work on their own. Unfortunately, it is not the easy question and answer session that they had envisioned. With missing bodies and bullets flying, Abby is once again in way over her head.
The previous books in the series ran very hot and cold with me, but I can tell you that I finished this book in one day, which is something that I do not usually do. The storyline and pace kept solid throughout, even though from time to time Abby and Candice did come across as two high schoolers, but I will forgive this bit of silliness. But just this one time.
I can now say that I would definitely recommend this and the Ghost Hunter Mystery series that Ms Laurie writes.

Another good addition to the series. Quick read. Once again Abby is always getting in trouble. A few changes happen in this book. Can't wait for the next installment of the series

I really enjoyed this latest Abby Cooper book. I think Victoria Laurie's idea to move the series setting from Michigan to Austin TX was very smart: keeps the series fresh. Reading the excerpt from the next Abby book, though, makes me slightly worried - she's already abandoning the Austin storyline, and I hope that doesn't ruin the series. Nonetheless, this book was a good read and I recommend it.
Definitely a far better read than Ms. Laurie's latest MJ Holliday book (which I thought was terrible). I'm pleased to see she hasn't lost her touch (with Abby, anyway).

I love the abby cooper series very much and this was another great read. Also would recommend the M.J Holiday series if you enjoy this book.
Book #8 of the Abby Cooper Psychic Eye series. Abby and Dutch have moved to Austin, Texas to join a group of FBI agents that work with cold cases. Candice and her new boyfriend, Brice are also in Austin. Several people from the previous books show up. Abby and Candice investigate a possible serial killer and end up in all sorts of trouble. Good, quick read. 4.5 stars
I have read all of Victoria Laurie's books and find them funny and delightful. I was disappointed in the ending of A Glimpse of Evil. Without spoiling the book, the one thing that connects the story together is something that any law enforcement agency would of discovered within the first 10 minutes of the case. Completely un-believable.
This is the first book I've read in the series and I've ordered the first three because I've enjoyed it so far. This is a great paranormal mystery - the paranormal part being an FBI intuitive working on a cold case squad. There were several mysteries to solve, making for an interesting combination of detectives and their skills. The only problem I had happened near the end of the book - a question about sex offender registries in Texas. Otherwise, a really good read.
I absolutely adore Ms Victoria Laurie's books! This highly anticipated 8th installment was by far one of the best ones to date. I devoured it in only a few sittings.

Abby is put behind a desk and instructed to use her abilities to locate lost clues and help resolve some old cases.
While digging around an old car repair shop in Dallas, Abby and another agent are attacked, and in an act of self defense, she finds herself temporarily suspended from the CCS. As a result, Abbey and Candace decide to do some undercover snooping of their own to find the killer of 3 missing young girls from the Dallas area, all while Dutch and Brice are trying to figure out who be-headed 3 random men from the same area.
Candice and Brice are at each others throats, Dutch is faced with a life threatning illness, and Abbey finds herself in some major trouble during a flash flood. The ending was resolved quickly and i was proud to say i figured out who-done-it.
While I LOVED this book I had only one small beef about it. Being that I grew up in Dallas, and traveled to Austin several times, I know the travel time is between 4-5 hours by car. However in this book it indicates the travel time to be only 2 1/2 hours at most. Not a big deal, just a tad bit unbelieveable from my end. Overall it was a great read and I cant wait for the next book. I think I hear wedding bells already....

OK,I really like both of Victoria Laurie's series. That said, I was not pleased with this one at all. It is my least favorite title of hers. The mystery part of the plot was good and I was interested, but there is page after page after page about her partner Candice and her FBI boyfriend that irked me to no end! They fight, they make up, then one of them says something that offends the other, and she kicks him out, then they apologize, then they fight. I finished this book in just a few days...only because I was able to skim over all those pages. Had it just been the mystery plot and Abby's work at the FBI, I would have liked it a lot more. And I'm sad to say, the blurb about the plot in the next title does not excite me. I like Abby working as a psychic and getting involved with crimes. Now it looks like she is going to assist the CIA. Likely not going to read that one, but will look for new titles beyond that to see if it gets back to its roots.
Victoria Laurie is a great author. Just loved this book and would not put it down.

I just could not put this book down. This book remained me of just why I enjoy reading this series. Abby Cooper and her boyfriend Dutch head to Tx to help solve a backlog of the FBI's cold Cases. Abby also finds herself teaching investigators to develop their own perceptive abilities.
Am reading each of Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye novels and thoroughly enjoying every one. Her stories and writing style keep you totally engrossed and not wanting to put the book down. Victoria is a new author for me and she's right at the top of my favorites list.
