One of those rare books that I enjoyed reading slowly, and reading even more slowly as I neared the conclusion, just to keep it from ending. The mood, the time period, the complicated relationships - all added up to a memorable experience.

This book was beautifully written. Yes, it's another book about Hitler's horrific impact, but the book focuses on relationships. I want to read more by Simon Mawer.
