Ellen Hopkins' "Kristina" books are the books that not only got me into YA but got me loving books in verse. I'll be forever grateful because before reading her books I would have never guessed I'd fall in love with either one.
Glass, Crank, and Fallout (the Kristina books) are by far my favorites. I've loved her others as well. I'd urge anyone to at least try one of her books. Even if you're not into the genre, not into verse, think about giving it a try - they're fantastic.

first off i love ellen hopkins style and very insightful way of writing. knowing that this book is based (loosely) off the story of a loved on i hope that they are doing well now. but i must say this book was incredibly dramatic. kristina (or bree which ever name you know her by) is a fantastic character. i feel a lot of books always look for the way to show that there will always be a happy ending but there really isn't a true happy ending for all. kristina evolved in a way entirely new which is scary, but defines "page turner"

Ellen Hopkins has once again taken readers into the world of meth and the chaos it creates. GLASS is the sequel to her first novel about Kristina called CRANK.
Just several months after giving birth to her son, Hunter, Kristina is drawn back to "the monster." She thinks a little snort could help her lose some weight and get her through the late-night feedings and day-to-day drudgery of constant baby needs. Surprised at how easy it is to score and how much the product has improved, it doesn't take long for Kristina to remember how great the stuff makes her feel.
For awhile the teen mom is able to take care of Hunter, hold down a low paying job, and keep herself cranked just enough to pretend her life isn't all that bad. Despite what Kristina may think, her mother and stepfather, Scott, are not really fooled into thinking all is well. They give her just enough space to eventually crash and burn. After falling asleep and putting the baby in danger, Kristina's mother throws her out of the house. She says she'll take care of Hunter, and Kristina should take care of herself.
Like most addicts, Kristina fools herself into believing she can have it all. She manages to keep her job and find a place to live with the cousin of her latest love interest. Once again her life is filled with drugs, sex, and whatever she has to do to survive. At times there is hope of reconnecting with family, but each time Kristina can't cope with their expectations and ends up with less and less of their love and support.
For readers who followed Kristina's painful journey in CRANK, this next book will illustrate the power of meth to completely change and destroy a life and the lives of anyone connected with the addict. Hopkins speaks from personal experience, which creates a powerful, heart-wrenching, and all too real quality to her verse. As they say, it's a life you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

A sequel to Crank and just as great!
Like all of Ellen Hopkins books, "Glass" is incredible. It is the sequal to "Crank", and it's all the more amazing because it is based on a true story about Ellen's daughter. But, like many other series, this second book is not nearly as good as the first.

Very interesting. Gives you insight to how hard addiction can be. Well written, but a little slow. The ending was very good, so don't give up on it! It gets better with time.
Not as well written as , I found this book to be a good sequel. The story line is captivating to a subject matter I know little about. I am using it to discuss drugs and other choices they face. I appreciate the fact that the partying is not glorified, and it paints a grim picture of what a single bad choice can do to a teenager's future.
Ellen Hopkins one of my top 10 authors. The ways she has a different format of writing here books. This book is the second book in the Crank series. What I love about this book is that she makes you feel as if you were the charter (Kristina). I personal recommend this book and Crank for teens.
