Well, I have finished the story of the two friends: Baba and Kate. In my estimation it was a poor final installment. Kate's marriage falls apart and her husband abscounds with their son, Cash. She decides to let it all go but later decides to fight for custody which she wins. Baba has a one night stand with a musician and becomes pregnant. While her husband, Frank, is furious he decides to claim the child as his own. Baba's on-again, off-again marriage stabilizes with the birth of Tracy, an independent daughter who is adored by Frank.
The relationship between the two friends is strange. Kate is needy and leans on Baba for help again and again throughout her life. Baba is cynical and while she is there for Kate, often resents this role. The only winner seems to be Cash who left for America to attend Harvard.
