It took me a bit to get invested in this book. It is an odd premise, both the hands in the box and the fact that the main characters are all in their 70-80's. The more that I read though, the more that I did not want to put the book down; there were so many layers. Michael's longing for his wife reminded me of observing a "picture bride" mourn her husband of 60+ years, such depth of love.
