Once again Elizabeth Noble drew me in with heartwarming charachters that I came to love and then spent the last third of the book totally shredding their lives. I should have known better when I read the back and it says a "bittersweet story" - there's much more bitter than sweet at the end. I've read this and Alphabet Weekends by this author and I guess I just don't like her style.

Had high hopes when this started out. There is a list of characters at the beginning, which was helpful in keeping them all straight. At the end of this book, I realized that several were barely mentioned at all. Not sure why they are even in the book. If this becomes a movie, they will undoubtedly be cut out. We start out learning about several of the tenants in this building the book is about. As the book goes on, some are more prominent than others. I finished it just because I wanted to see what happened, and it's an easy read. Just sort of blah, really.

I agree with the other review. The beginning had great character development and a storyline that drew me in. However, the last bit seemed hurried and not quite as finished as I'd like. I guess I am more of a happy ending kind of girl and this book just didn't do it for me.
