I wasn't sure about this one when I first started reading it. Some of the medical jargon made me think it wasn't something I'd enjoy. I was SO wrong!!! Loved this book. Set in Victorian London. A young girl has survived the cholera outbreak, losing her entire family. She becomes the ward of the doctor who treated them and becomes very skilled in assisting him and all aspects of anatomy, etc. However, it's a crime at that time for a female to be involved in anything pertaining to the medical field. This is a historical story as well as a struggle for equality for women, love and friendship. Well worth the read - looking forward to the second book!!!
