I really enjoyed listening to this book but I'm glad I didn't try to read it. So much more comes across when a book is read to you using the correct expressions & accents.

An excellent story but not for the sqeamish. The book contains a brutal rape and a number of really grisly murders. Larson tends to be a bit heavy-handed on minor details throughout much of the book but mercifully includes just enough details of the more gruesome events to fully grip the horror without grinding the reader's face in it. Lisbeth Salander is truly one of the most unique and intriguing characters in modern fiction. The narration is well-performed, as well. The book is gripping, surprising, and inventive.

I love this trilogy and seem to visit it once a year...movies, books, and CDs. This was a very good reading of the story and it kept me engaged throughout...even though I know the ending.

I HAD TO RATE THIS BUT I REALLY WON'T because: it's really a warning. 1. Don't pay any attention to those reviews which are not about the CD versions. I've found that the printed and read versions are SO different as to be separate novels. 2. Wait until you've accumulated all three of the "Millennium" novels. You'll get lost if you don't. Watch the three Swedish movies first. They'll give you a good idea of who's who and what's what. 3. This is NOT your typical Swedish noir novel; those are cop-oriented. This is "crusading journalist/wronged citizen"-oriented. Larsson wrote the "millennium trilogy"; skip the rest.
