This is the story of a young girl who is the daughter of the King of Scots. However, the king is always away, leaving her in the care of an aunt, who later ends up dead. This is a historical fiction that goes through the trials and gets into the head of Marjorie. It goes through the horror she has of being locked in a cage by Longshanks and the humiliation she suffers to keep her fathers good name. I think it is a very good read.

An excellent historical novel - of interest to any age reader who is interested in history. All the women of The Bruce's family are captured by the English King and displayed in open cages. The story is told from the 12 year old Princess viewpoint. This really happened and is a stunning bit of history.

Great story for the young adult and the adult. Marjorie is 11 yrs old, her father is the King of Scotland, which makes her a princess. She is thus also a target for harm by Longshanks, the King of England. She is captured & imprisoned in a cage and held in public display. This is a fictional story based somewhat on fact, was well written and quite interesting. Written by the author of "Queen's Own Fool Mary Queen of Scots" also a super good read.

This school-aged children's historical novel is told in the first person by 11 year-old Marjorie, the daughter of the Scottish King Robert the Bruce, who was captured by King Edward of England during one of the wars for the independence of Scotland, and imprisoned in an outdoor cage. She is determined not only to survive, but to outwit the English king. Very well written, as one would expect from Jane Yolen, and any adult interested in Scottish history would enjoy it too.
