Gigi is the story behind the movie of a sort of spring-autumn romance, or should I say infatuation. The movie was better.
In Chance Acquaintance the author and her cat get involved separately with an invalid wife, her philandering husband, and a music-hall dancer. When all of these relationships become intertwined, how does she extricate herself?
Julie de Carneilhan, more of a novella, is based on the author's own relationships.

These stories are terrific. Written in the early 20th century and yet so modern even today. Most everyone will be familiar with the story of "Gigi" but you may not be familiar with Colette's other characters and tales. I plan on reading as much as I can get my hands on of Colette's short stories and novels. Highly recommended.
