YOUNG ADULT (YA)
I read this book when I was a young teen, but it stayed with me all these years just like a good R.L. Stine book. It features a girl with E.S.P. powers and is just a great read about what this girl goes through and to decide if she will use her powers to help or for her own gain. Fans of supernatural t.v. shows like, Roswell, Buffy or Charmed would enjoy this book.

BOOK BLURB: When the old woman died, she left each of her grandchildren something very special. For Kirby, the gift of dance. For Brendon, the gift of music. And for Nancy, the most extraordinary gift of all . . . the gift of magic. This is Nancy's story...She knows who is at the door even before they knock and who is calling on the phone before it rings. She can get inside people's minds. She can read their thoughts . . .feel their emotions. . . share their dreams....

I read this book when I was a teenager as well. It is one of the books that really turned me on to the "Horror" genre.

I have been enjoying Lois Duncan and her books for more years than I care to admit. I know her primary audience is YA, but they are so well-written and plotted that they are easily enjoyed by adult readers.

From back of book:

Is her special power a gift or a curse?

She knows who is at the door even before the knock and who is calling on the phone before it rings. She can get inside other people's minds. She can read their thoughts... feel thier emotions... share thier dreams.

At first, Nancy's E.S.P. frightens her. Then it intrigues her. The more she practices, the stronger it becomes. Now she can use her mind to move objects around the room and even to influence what other people do.

Then Nancy is temptedto use her gift for evil. Will she be able to control it... or will it end up controlling her?
