When I read The Gift of the Magi I realized that I had read that story long ago but the others in this collection were new to me. A number were romantic and others were about people who affect the lives of others in a negative way. There is an outlaw who killed a man, a greedy father who sends his eleven-year-old daughter to work in a hotel so he can increase his wealth, and a robber who bought a sheep ranch. Short story collections are almost always fun for me. I feel so good when I finish one, can chuckle or think about what the author intended to convey to the reader.
