I was only mildly impressed with the first book in this series, but I decided to give the second one a try. LOVED IT! Gideon was a great hero, especially if you like your men very reserved and controlled, then watch them unravel! I never could understand how Legna could acknowledge the Imprinting, yet put off sleeping with him. Made for some great tension in the story, though! Great scene where she forces through Gideon's emotional barriers and he snaps.

For all you Sherrilyn Kenyon fans, he sort of reminds me of Acheron, who is the UBER-Man in my opinion.

I have now become enamored with the series and have already gotten the next one (Elijah). I loved Elijah's character, so I am looking forward to diving in!

This series from Jacquelyn Frank is a very intelligent collection on demons, druids, vampires, and werewolves. This particular story hits upon the May-December romance between two demons. The story line is well thought out and extremely developed. She has put a lot of thought into making sure there is a basis for the conflict. This book, sucks you in and leaves you wanting more on each of the characters that are brushed upon in the story.

I did read the first in this series, Jacob, and felt it was a decent start to a new series. So, when I found a cheap used copy of this one, I figured what the heck?

Ugh, I wish I hadn't bothered. I didn't even finish it, and I just don't NOT finish a book. It's only happened less than a handful of times.

I felt like it took way too long to get to the story for this book. It seemed like a quarter of the book was spent rehashing the first one. And not even creatively. The dialogue felt so forced and obvious, I thought I was reading a bad Soap Opera's script or something.

I got more than half way through it, and never once could connect to the main characters. Or, should I say, who the main characters are supposed to be. There's so much involving other characters, I felt Gideon and Legna, were almost side story.

Not sure if I could make myself read the next one. But who knows... I can be a glutton for punishment.

OMG! These demons are the most colorful and the hottest. Gideon is ancient and believes the Demon kings sister is his lifemate, but that she can't stand him. Through Gideon we come to understand this Demon world a lot better. Gideon as ancient as he is can still be amazed and shocked that there is possibly more that he can learn, more that he can feel.

I was happy that this book series is actually a fluent storyline and not just empty romance/sex cover to cover. Actually, Gideon has very little steamy scenes, but what it did have were well written and enjoyable to read. The story and the characters keep me interested, though, and I am looking forward to reading Elijah (book 3).

I continue to be wowwed by Jaquelyn Frank's Nightwalkers series. The second installment, Gideon, does a wonderful job of continuing the thread of the story introduced in its predecesor, Jacob. Readers that fell in love with book one's romantic pairing of Enforcers Jacob and Isabella will be pleased to see that couple get their fair share of facetime in this sequel.

Honestly, I was a little worried I wouldn't like Gideon -- I wasn't very taken with its namesake character. However, I did love his love interest Legna, so I hoped she could drag the story along on her sassiness and girl-power alone.

However, I have to give Frank credit. By the end of this book, I absolutely LOVED Gideon. Instead of finding him dry and arrogant, he ended up being... well, every bit the male romantic lead in an urban fantasy. Gideon is the Demon race's oldest member, an esteemed medic and healer with powers over the body. Legna -- the Demon King's baby sister -- is a young, headstrong and mentally strong beyond her years. Frank transforms a virulent love-hate relationship into an imprinted bond that defies their May-December romance. The love story is wonderful.

Not only is Gideon as steamy as its predecessor, it's well written, too. The broad storyline continues to build in this second book, with the bad-guy necromancers growing in strength an attacking the Demons with a personal hatred and frightening intimacy.

The Demons enlist the help of old friends to help sniff out the traitor in their midst. This plotpoint allows Frank to introduce new breeds of Nightwalkers, opening the door for further expansion of the series in future books. We meet vampires and lycanthropes, and hear rumbles of shadowdwellers, too.

Overall, the book is really good, and the series as a whole is stellar. I have high hopes for the next installment, Elijah, which promises further exploration of the lycanthropes and a focus on one of my favorite players, the sarcastic Warrior Chief.

It took me awhile to get into the story. After reading Jacob's story, I had an idea of where this book was going and it seemed to just follow along with what I expected. About 2/3rds into the book it took a twist that was much more interesting for me. I'm looking forward to the next book and the new characters introduced in Gideon.

I really love this series. Even though I have read them out of order, they are still worth the read. I recommend this exciting paranormal read to any paranormal fans.

In my opinion, not nearly as good as the first. I feel she went on too many tangents that were irrelevant to the story. Of course there were many explanations, and lead ins for future books, but I felt there was too much fill that was unnecessary. The plot line itself was still good though. I am not sure though if I am going to try #3.

I liked this book best in the series so far.
Jacquelyn Frank writes a good story with interesting charactors and a novel take on the paranormal. If you like romance and a decent story, you should enjoy this book.

I really loved the first book, Jacob, but I really could not get into this book. The main characters spent so much time analyzing all their feelings for each other - they just went on and on for way too long. I just ended up skimming those parts. Like other readers, I found the story line of what were the secondary characters more interesting. I will probably try the next book in the series and hope I enjoy it more.

I am fast becoming a huge fan of Jacquelyn Frank's writing skills to weave a story line that is filled with the unexpected; one that keeps me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what comes next. Her love scenes are the best. The Nightwalkers series has been a thrilling surprise for me as I learn about these creatures from another culture. Gideon was a terrifically satisfying read and one that took a slightly different spin from the first book (Jacob)but continued to enhance this exciting culture Frank has introduced. Her words paint vivid pictures. So much so that I felt myself to be part of the action. On my own personal book review (I have listed every book I've read in the past few years and ranked them), I have given this book an Excellent+

This is a fast-moving and truly enjoyable book.

Sequel to Jacob and still holding strong! The Ancient, Gideon, the oldest, wisest, and most powerful of his race most now learn from his young new mate. He most once more learn to deal with his emotions - and with an empath for his mate, this should be easy. But old and set in his ways, Gideon finds it hard to do so, but his mate, Ledgna, a long-time diplomat to her brother the King, is anything if not patient.

In the series, this was an ok book. I do like the way the author sets up the next book in the series within each story, although it is predictable

This is the 2nd in Frank's Nightwalkers series and as good if not better than the first one, which was "Jacob". If you are just starting the series or think this may of interest let me know.
From the back of the book;
"They're called the Nightwalkers-proud, ancient beingswho live in the shadows, existing just beyond the human world. But there are also dangerous humans who hunt them--necromancers who use the blackest magic to manipulate them. And for a Demon named Gideon the battle against these evil forces will soon become all too personal."

For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons -- and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdelegna, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace. Horrified by his lack of control, he left her wanting and furious -- and then exiled himself for the better part of a decade. Now, with necromancers threatening his people -- and Magdelegna nearly their victim -- Gideon must face another truth. He and the beautiful, stubborn Magdelegna are destined to be together, to share a love as deep and old as time itself. But first he needs to regain her trust. Then he'll have to save her life.
