I found myself a little disappointed in this 3rd book in the series. I was able to figure out who did it by the middle of the book, and grew a little frazzled with all the clothes Bailey Ruth either changes into or describes. I also had a difficult time getting into the book, it seemed like there was a very long "Who's on first" routine going for about the first quarter of it. I have enjoyed the previous books immensely and will definatly read the next book, hopefully this is just a bump in the quality and fun of these "Ghost" books.

I enjoyed the first two Bailey Ruth books even though they were a bit on the silly side. A ghost who needs to eat and sleep and can make solid objects, like money, appear out of thin air? But this third book was terrible. Bailey Ruth spent the entire book admiring herself in mirrors, telling herself how beautiful her red hair was and how smart and clever she was. Ugh! She changed clothes constantly and admired her clothes constantly. The descriptions of each new outfit got old. The book got a little too preachy. Bailey Ruth got holier than thou about what was acceptable to Heaven and what was a sin. She almost derailed the murder investigation by refusing to spy on a FAKE seance because anything to do with the occult was a sin. I never wanted to strangle a fictional character before. When she started quoting Leviticus I said that's it, I'm done. By the end of the book I was really disliking Bailey Ruth. If the author writes any more Bailey Ruth books, I won't be wasting any credits on them.

I was not as impressed with this third outing of the Bailey Ruth Series. The first two books had a steady flow, whereas, Ghost in Trouble came across to me as too choppy with a profusion of unnecessary characters. Get to the point, stick to the point and encourage me on the path to the ending that is the formula for a good book. This on the other hand just did not have the spark to keep me reading.

As we know from the previous books, Bailey Ruth Raeburn and her husband died in a boating accident and now Bailey works as a heavenly emissary helping to keep the living out of trouble. Unfortunately, Bailey has a problem when it comes to following the precepts and from time to time oversteps her boundaries much to the frustration of Wiggins her immediate superior.

Bailey Ruth arrives back in Adelaide, Oklahoma, her former in real life home, to help Kay Clark after her boyfriend, Jack Hume, is discovered dead as the bottom of a staircase at the family home known as the Castle, a local Adelaide landmark.

In and out of the story comes the over abundance of characters that lead this reader to refresh her memory as to how they all fit in.

As with the two previous books, Bailey's antics and sudden appearances in multiple outfits, that are practically a character all their own, lead to the bad guys getting caught and the good guys riding off into the sunset, or the train that is barreling into take Bailey Ruth back home.

As usual Ms. Hart has written a very good story ! Love the characters and the high-jinx they get up to. Real great read!

If you take the religious comments seriously - you might be offended. Luci & Desi's latest skit is just as good as their long trailer one? Oh - she forgot - she wasn't supposed to tell us that!

If you take this seriously - if is offensive to think an Angel (ghost) (emissary from Heaven) might engage in little white lies to her boss or to still dislike her rival from when she was alive - then this book is not for you.

But, if you think - I am going to have fun. I can accept this ghost is silly and vain and fun to be around, but she has a good heart and tries hard - often with results that are best described as "Oops". If you take this as fiction and just enjoy the character and her foibles, then the book is fun. If you expect our hero to behave like a perfect angel, then where's the fun in that?

I thoroughly enjoyed this series!! Highly recommend! I laughed out loud in places. I loved she was silly.
