A badly written novel with threadbare characterizations of the Enterprise-D crew.
Diane Carey has contributed much to the lore of Star Trek novels, but this book, the second in the Next Generation series of Pocket Books novels, is not among the more valuable contributions. The quality of the book suggests that she was given no time to understand the characters beyond a very cursory look at the writers' guide.
This is a book so bad even a diehard fan of the series will want to give it a miss.

Good SciFi.
