From the back cover - "The beautiful old mansion on Long Island's South Shore seemed the perfect home for the Van Burens and their three young children. What happened to them inside that house is an experience you'll pray couldn't happen to you."

Not that bad, as ghost stories go. I enjoyed reading it and, being only 214 pages, was able to do so in one night's time. A little bit of scary and a little bit of sensuality. Not the scariest I've ever read, but still a good story. I will have to say, though, that I have only really been "scared" by two horror books I've ever read and I've read a great many. So for those that are more easily freaked out by ghost stories, this might be a good read..

This book is quite literally a jewel in the rough. It is rough because it is poorly edited and some words were cut out, including more than a few endings of sentences and the ever popular mis-spelled words. Also, certain paragraphs, phrases, or segments are badly worded and awkward. There are plot holes large enough to drive a semi-truck through. This book compares itself to "The Amityville Horror", which it is not. I suspect that this book was rushed to publication in the aftermath of the Amityville Horror movie release, because it is so badly edited. If it were a house it would be called a "fixer-upper". It is a jewel because there is a good story underneath all of the writing problems. The story itself is about a family of five that move into a mansion on a hill, without realizing that the house is haunted by a lovesick ghost. The story itself is a good one and was actually frightening to me to read. It also leaves the door wide open for sequels, which I believe have already been published.

If you can overlook the writing flaws, and enjoy a good scary book, this is for you!
