Interesting follow-up to the fabulous book Waiting to Exhale. This book continues the story of four African American, female friends who have bonded over love, loss, divorce and the single life. Set in Arizona, the book starts off roughly fifteen years after we last saw the characters. Savannah is now married but has found her husband has a porn addiction that leads her to file for divorce. Gloria, who found happiness with her neighbor Marvin, finds her life rocked by a tragedy. Robin, now a mother of a fifteen year old daughter Sparrow, is attempting to find a life partner now that her daughter is almost grown. Bernice finds herself unlucky in love again after she discovers that her second "husband" already has a wife. Not only has she been betrayed, but she's broke. This was a decent follow up to the first book. There was a lot of humor in the book and I found that the writer included certain aspects of her own life into the book. I enjoyed the read. I read that the film rights to this book have already been purchased so we can expect to see the actresses from the first film reprising their roles.
It was ok. It was great to catch up with the ladies and see how their lives had progressed, but it was also depressing to see that everyone was having difficulties. I guess if everything was great there would be no depth to the book, and the turn around portion of the book where the ladies come to terms with their lives and their struggles and once again everything looks like it is going to be great from here on. New issues, but the same plot that was almost predictable this time. A good quick read.

This was a pretty good book. Read it in about 4 days. As I was reading I was picturing the characters from the movie acting out the scenes. The only problem that I had with that was that some of the actors/actresses that played in the movie Waiting to Exhale wont fit into the characters in this book so if it this was to be made into a movie, who would they get to play the parts??? Big question. Good read though!!!
I was so excited to read the long overdue sequel to Waiting to Exhale. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. Most of the dilemmas the characters had were pretty predictable and I was hoping to be surprised. The storyline seemed to be rushed and it seemed that little issues were thrown in as "fillers". I could relate to the characters in Waiting to Exhale, coulodn't relate to the new issues with the characters at all.
This book is excellent. I enjoyed the book. A must read. If you liked Waiting to Exhale, you will love this one.
