I thought this book would be a tongue in cheek treatment of what I'm doing: which is, trying to figure it all OUT (and YES you can lose your mind doing this lol). BUT, turns out to be a self help book written by a psychiatrist. The back cover reads: "A "spiritual psychiatrist" offers reassurance for those who've experienced disruptive states of mind, from paranormal experiences to mystical visions."
If this is something that piques your interest, OR you're on a quest and feel this would be much needed support, this is the book for you.

Dr. Gersten, a practicing psychiatrist for 20 years, recounts his experiences with his patients to answer questions about the entire spectrum of human consciousness. A doctor of the soul, Gersten clearly differentiates between miracles and madness, spirtual emergence and mental emergency as well as the everday stresses that affect our states of mind. Why is it that it's called prayer when we talk to God, but when he answers back it's called schizophrenia?
A very interesting book.
