This book has a lot of facts about carver's work as a "..Scientist and Symbol" as the title states. However his religion, God and Jesus is not mentioned. The book is worth having because of the pictures and story of Carver's life. The writing is somewhat dry, but most of the historical facts are there. This book has 367 pages and about 17 pictures of carver from throughout his life. This book is OK for explaining WHAT he did..... but it is a failure for what it leaves out. It leaves out WHY he did it. Fortunately, other books on carver tell the whole story.
