Although I've read short biographies of George Orwell before, this one is the best I've read so far. It tells a truncated story of his life, using Orwell's meaningful experiences to bring flavor to the interpretation of his works. Because of the excellent writing of this ebook, I went to the library to get a copy of 1984 to read again. I plan to reread this ebook to think about the interpretation(s) of the story according to this author.
When we passed the year 1984, I thought we had escaped the horror of Orwell's vision. However, current events make me wonder. Perhaps it took longer to achieve Orwell's pessimistic view. Thus, his book should be required reading. Fortunately, my granddaughter's sophomore English class is reading this book now.
