This story is about a screen queen whom decides to have her story told, no holds barred. She knows many secrets however that many wish would not be brought to light including ex husbands, ex lovers, current lovers and so-called friends. Everyone scrambles to find out if their truths will be told and attempt in some form or another, to silence them. She selects Julia to tell her story and brings her and her 10 year old son out to California to be able to accomplish that.

This is so far one of the most boring Nora Roberts books, ever. It was OK but it seriously was a PUSH to get through it, and usually I simply just fly through her novels. The characters are very flat and uninvolved. I was able to guess whodunit way before the act was even done, as well as guess some of the plot twists. The book was fun for the trip to Hollywood-land but besides that it was a LONG book (528 pages) that really would have been better off slimmed down. Lots ado about nothing which leads to boring repeat events (how many times can Julia's house get broken into) and pointless happenings.

This book was a real treat! I've read more than 30 of Nora Roberts' books and this one is my favorite thus far. It had just the right combination of intrigue, mystery, suspense and love. The characters were varied- so many different personalities represented - and the overall story kept me guessing right until the end. I loved the way the story revealed some shockers along the way, too. An excellent read!

I really enjoyed this book - it's nothing terribly surprising or deep, but it was a fun read that lived up to it's promise of movie star 'scandals', including enough potential villans to keep me guessing.

Eve Benedict is the kind of subject who could make any biographer's career. Last of the movie goddesses, she has two Oscars, four ex-husbands, and a legion of lovers, both famous and infamous. Now she is ready to write a tell-all memoir that has even Hollywood's richest and most powerful worried.

Julie Summers never dreamed of being chosen to tell Eve's story. Even if it means transplanting herself and her ten-year-old son from their quiet life in Connecticut to the withering limelight of Beverly Hills, it's an opportunity too great to pass up. But Julia never imagined how far someone would go to keep Eve Benedict's book from being published...until she discovers just how dark Eve's secrets are. And one man Julia hopes she can trust--Eve's stepson, Paul Winthrop--may have the most to gain if his stepmother's story is never told...and if Julia's life ends before she can write a word of the truth.

I really liked this story. Good complexity, good characters (not to predictable or shallow), and good plot twists. A typical Roberts story, but better than the earlier pure-romance stories. I enjoyed the read.

Sexy and Intriguing

I get lost in the fascination with the glitsy movie star, Eve, and all the unique people in her life that she has maneuvered herself around and manipulated with her stunning beauty.
And the biographer, Julia, who gets lured into the deep secrets and intrigue of Eve's life. She's got to listen to all of it and make detailed notes to capture the true essence of Eve's life to write the biography completely.
Eve insists it is time to write her memoirs. Her step-son seems intent on privacy, and doesn't think its the best thing to do. There are also lots of other people who don't want their dirty secrets shared in the book, and will do anything to stop Eve and Julia.
Its only a surprise to come to find out that Julia and Eve's sexy step-son, Paul eventually hit it off and start to trust one another.
I love this twisted drama. I have read this book 3 times. I am riveted.

Although this story was very predictable without many surprises, I still enjoyed it. I think this story is a good choice for any fan of Nora Roberts or for someone who isnt familiar with her work.

Julia and Eve were exceptional characters and I liked both of them immediately. It took me a little longer to warm up to Paul, but once I did, I thought he was perfect for Julia and her son.

I really enjoyed the premise of a celebrity movie star deciding to write her memoirs and the secrets she plans to reveal are jaw-dropping and some of the characters would do anything to keep those secrets buried.

If you are looking for a good story with interesting characters, romance, suspense and mystery, then I recommend this story to provide the perfect choice.

An old time movie star, think Bette Davis, decides to tell her life story and she doesn't care how many lives might be destroyed by her tell-all. Beautiful love story between her almost-son and the woman who arrives to ghostwrite the biography.
