Helpful Score: 3
This is a romance story written in the 1800 London Society. A young lady who is orphaned and financially destitute with four younger sibling take a bold & courageous step to Present herself as a wealthy widow and get her Lovely younger sister into the "Season" to capture a wealthy husband. She happens to see a murder and becomes a target of a wealthy spy & pirate. The story is entertaining. However too many sex scenes for my taste.
Stephanie Laurens is a favorite author, and this book is one of her best. Can\'t wait to read the rest of the Bastion Club series!
I enjoyed this book very much!

A Bastion Club Novel. Laurens is a great romance author, her books have a solid story, a whole lot of humor as well as red-hot romance. A great read.

Book two of the Bastion Club series
The second book in the Bastion Club series about Tony Blake, Viscount Torrington, finding his match in Alicia who is busy finding a good match for her younger sister while trying to escape a murderer. Another good read from this author.
I loved the first book in the Bastion series (the lady chosen) but this second book is not nearly as good. I recommend the series and will continue reading it, but this is not the best book in the bunch.
It's a Laurens, need I say more? It is witty and charming without being over done.

Wonderfully romantic escapism novel. The Bastion Club is a group of English gentlemen returned from the wars with Napoleon who all must marry. They form the Bastion Club and buy a residence in which to meet and share info on prospective brides and which debutantes and managing future mothers-in-laws to avoid. Of course there are mysteries which lead them to meet women they most likely would never have met in Almack's Assembly Room. The struggle between strong willed men and women ensue with lots of torrid romance thrown in.

Alicia is living a deception. Desperation has caused the determined but penniless lady to boldly launch her ravishing younger sister into the ton and have her make a spectacular match. She masquerades as the widowed Mrs. Carrington so she can act as the perfect chaperone.
The Season has yet to begin, and the second memeber of the Bastion Club, tall, handsome Anthony Blake, Viscount Toorington, is already a target for every matchmaking mama in London. None of their flighty daughters can fix his interest, but a certain lady does....
Romance novel.

2nd in the Bastion Club series, Anthony Blake, Viscount Torrington is a perfect regency era hero.
