This book was an easy read but a bit neurotic for my tastes. I much prefer and like the style of this author under her "Sophia Kinsella" alias. For those that are a fan of her SK books, I fear they too won't be too thrilled with The Gatecrasher.

Such a great book. I finished it in 3 days, I just couldn't wait to see what happened next.

I really liked this one. It was definitely much darker than her normal books, but I thought the storyline was interesting and the characters were well developed.

The book was well written and a compelling read but Fleur, the main character, was definitely not a nice person! In the Shopoholic series, Becky may be silly & somewhat superficial but she does have a good heart. Fleur unfortunately is so self absorbed that she doesn't seem to really care for anyone, even her own daughter. Her upbringing may explain some of her behaviour &, at least at the end, she seemed to be trying to turn her life around but she wasn't someone for whom I rooted throughout the book.

I tried to read this book. Unfortunately this book does not hold up to what I have come to expect from Madeleine Wickham/ Sophie Kinsella. Not entertaining at all.

By the Sophie Kinsella (writing under a pen name), who wrote the Shopoholic series. Not the same as that type, but thoroughly enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book from page one. The story line was original and the pacing was great, but what I loved most was that you really had no idea where the story was going to take you. Fleur was so flawed that the reader never really knew how the story was going to end until the last page. I only wish that the ending had been fleshed out a bit more but that is a small gripe with an otherwise highly enjoyable book!

I prefer mystery, but really still enjoy Sophie Kinsella/Madeleine Wickham. It is not quite down-to-earth, but are we always looking for that when we read?

I giggled and smiled as I read this and like the characters was sucked into like the heroine, Fleur Daxeny, despite my resolution not to like her at all. It's a cute book, and having read some of Sophie Kinsella's later stuff, it's nice to see how she's grown as an author. More closure at the end would have been nice, it was like her editor said no more words and she rushed to finish, but still an enjoyable read. I would pick up more of her work as Mdeleine Wickham without hesitation.

Love all thing Sophie Kinsella!! So I decided to branch out and see about these Madeleine Wickham books and boy was I in for a treat. First things first Kinsella and Wickham have a completely different tone of writing, Kinsella tends to be really funny Wickham has a dry humor. With that being said I have really enjoyed reading The Gatecrasher. If you start this book thinking about other works of Kinsella you will be disappointed, so read this with a clear head, like you would treat any new author you are reading.

The main character of the book Fleur is not a good woman, out to get as much money from all different kinds of widowers as she can. But in her path of being a sneaky evil wrong doer she unknowingly helps an entire family get past a lot of emotional issues, and brings them closer. An odd tale about a woman scorned. I would definitely recommend this book to all!

This book was good but different from most chick lit I have read. The main character, Fleur is extremely selfish and out for all she can get. The other characters are well developed.
