I unexpectedly loved this book. A story built around the quote "It's never too late to be what you might have been". It is a charming story about a women trying to rebuild her own identity after years of living up to what was expected of her and revealing her true self to her grown daughter.

I didn't realize this was a Christian book. I like the images of Paris (I love the city) but even though I'm Christian I prefer not to have Christianity introduced in the middle of a novel. After that point, Christianity became the major theme and the whole thing became unrealistic (e.g. in how certain characters change so fast). I prefer stories where the characters are more realistic rather than where specific characters are the 'bad' characters and then become almost sucrose sweet once they turn into 'good' characters.

I really enjoyed this book. I am pretty picky about the types of books I read and liked the author's style so much I looked for more of her books.

This book is about the relationship between a mother and a daughter and how it evolves and changes after their husband/father dies. The novel takes place in both Omaha, Nebraska and Paris, France. The author traveled to Paris to provide accurate descriptions of the city in her book. This is a very engaging and entertaining read. I would also highly recommend the sequel to this book called A Hilltop in Tuscany.
