Excellent book - a bit slow for me at first, she writes like a magazine reporter. The first part of the book is interviewing various people in the greater garbage business - but who needs to know what the physical characteristics of these people are? Later in the book, she gets into more statistics and her philosophical growth in her dealings with trash. She focusses on New York, since that is where she is, and her angst seems a little strange to someone who has lived in Seattle a long time. Her sense of scale is not very well developed - she spent more time discussing her plastic bread twines than all the industrial waste.
