Karen Chance has a vivid imagination, I adore reading her books, BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO HER EDITOR??? This 500+ page book had a lot of bla bla bla fighting that should have been edited/shortened. Gone because they were confusing or just too much information. I wondered so often-->>> did anybody actually READ this before it was published? Did they think they'd be the only person who was confused and lost?? With a bit of editing it would have been a 5 star story... and once I finished reading it I went back and read the first 2 stories in this series, and it turned into a better story when I re-read it for the 2nd time and upped the stars. Yes I've read it twice, because it is a great series.

It's one of these books you really have to take your time to read because it can get confusing. Definitely read the other two books first.

It's very action packed and a bit wordy but that's Chance's style. There are a lot of moments of "How is she going to get out of that now?" I know I might ruin it for others by saying this but vampire zombies!!!! How cool is that?

I loved that Ray became such a central character in the book. He was comic relief as well as the brains in the operation. I didn't think I would like him when he first appeared but by the end of the book I was rooting for him.

I'm not sure I liked where Dory's character went in this storyline but I guess it was inevitable. The back and forth from Dory's mind and present time could get a little annoying. Surprisingly my favorite development was in her relationship with her father.

Well worth the read.
