Though she would probably argue the point (and she DOES have one!), Ellen's whirl through this globe is really larger than life. In her own quirky, funny, lop-sided way of looking at things Ellen brings out the "heart" in all she sees. And believe me - she sees PLENTY. This lovely woman has gone all the way from complete unknown to Superstar to Ellen Who?-the has-been and back again to Superstar. It is obvious that along the way Ellen has learned to take nothing in her life for granted. Her writing is funny, crisp and insightful without being in any way whiny. Yes, I'm a fan. Not only is she a terrific comedian/actress/talk show host; she is also a terrific writer with a heart and soul of gold. Please read this book (and her other one also!) because you will applaud yourself when you finish! You Go, Ellen!

The 2nd book by one of the funniest gals in the 20th/21st century! So funny that I could not put it down!

I love Ellen - love her show, and think she'd be a great person to know, but I had trouble with this book. I didn't find it funny at all as I started reading. It's written just as if she were reciting one of her monologues and it wasn't until I heard her voice in my head as I read that I found the funny.

Too funny!

I really like Ellen and her show and most of her previous books have been amusing. I think she just gathered up some odd bits and put them into a book. They might have been funny if she was delivering these bits, but to me this book was boring from start to finish. Sorry I spent the time reading it.

"The Funny Thing Is..." is Ellen at her best! It is such whimsical and upbeat book just chock full of "Ellen-isms!" If you're an Ellen fan, this ones for you!
Ellen sharing her thoughts and humor.
It's basically a collection of comedic "essays" written by Ellen Degeneres. The topics include: why prison wouldn't be so bad, clothes we regret wearing, and things to be grateful for. This was a quick read and was hysterical! Ellen should definitely write more books.
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt!
Witty and clever observations; never mean spirited.
A nice book.

Hilarious!
If you enjoy Ellen's sense of humor, you will LOVE this book!
It's a must read for any Ellen Degeneres fan!

Ellen Degeneres is such a nice person! Reading this makes you want to adopt her as your best friend. Like most comedians, she has survived by seeing the humor in otherwise hard situations in life, hence the best friend thing... I'm guessing you could be dying of cancer and she would cheer you up with jokes about the nursing staff. ;-)

Ellen is always fun!
She makes me laugh, but I think her stand-up comedy is better.
I was very disappointed in this book; I did not find it funny at all not even a little bit. Bummer.
Another zany reading by Ellen.
A fun read! "Along with her trademark ramblings, The Funny Thing Is...contains hundreds of succinct insights into her psyche and offers innovative features like:
- more than 50000 simple, short words arranged in sentences that form paragraphs;
- Thousands of observations on every day life;
-- All twenty-six letters of the alphabet."

Lots of chuckles, a few guffaws
very funny read...quick and easy!
I loved the book. I think she is very funny.
I have never laughed so much reading a book. Loved it!
very funny!
FUNNY!!!!!!!!
If Ellen cracks you up, you'll love this book.
I love Ellen, but this but wasn't quite as funny as I expected it to be. It wasn't bad, I just expected a bit more than what I got.
ELLEN AT HER BEST. A FUNNY FAST READ
her first book was better
I couldn't get into it.. didn't find it very funny at all.
Funny and witty. Ellen at her best!
I really enjoyed this book from Ellen. Love her humor.
I went into this mistakenly thinking it was a biography but what it amounts to is stand-up comedy in the written form. While bits of it were cute most of the book wasn't particularly funny and it often seemed to just ramble on. I did learn that Ellen eats veal (ugh) and that she grew up poor but that's about as deep as it gets. Overall a real bummer.
it's typical Degeneres comedy....been a while since i've read it but basically stand up in book form
Ellen is sooooo funny!
Very funny!
