I loved this book! I was so interested in what happened to Funny Cide after his wins that I googled his name and found out that he had raced until he was 7, winning over 3 million dollars! He has also been retired to his trainers, Barclay Tagg stable to work as a pony horse. No last ride on the slaughter bound truck for him. Way to go Funny Cide!!! A very happy ending.

Interesting story about the Kentucky Derby winner who was "syndicated" by a group of high-school buddies from a small New York town and his long path to the roses.

A great book; the writing captures the readers attention, shows how a group of interested people invest their time, energy, a horse, training, & a jockey to produce a winning champion in the horse-racing circuit, Funny Cide. Their determination and enthusiasm succeeded. Funny Cide was the winner in 2003.
