I have read a few cop books before. I loved Jimmy "Wags" Cop book very much. This book, well, the situations may have been funny but they were not written in any humorous way. I guess I was expecting humor but the stories were odd. Personally I think they need a better writer/editor who can give the stories a special oomph to get you laughing.
