The MYSTERY is interesting as long as you aren't bothered by the graphic sex and obscene language. As a fan of Tim Myers, Monica Ferris, Dame Agatha, Maggie Sefton genre of mysteries, I was shocked and surprised by what the author felt was required to tell the story. Not one reviewer mentioned it. The mystery is good, the characters are three dimensional, and the town is vivid. The surprise ending is a twist that you feel you SHOULD have seen coming, but still are blind sided by it. I SO want to see how Tory's life works out, but it really was too graphic for me. Somebody edit it and let me know how it all works out!

1st in the series about Tory Bauer in Delphi, SD.
Funeral Foods prologue tells us that although it was written before the first 2, it wasnt released nationwide until after them. However, it should be considered first in the series. In it we meet Stu for the first time and get quite a bit of back story.

Very interesting story, with Tort Bauer as the heroine. This is the first story that I have read by Kathleen Taylor, she has a very surprise ending.

I really liked this book. The ending was a surprise, and Tory is very likeable, as is her roomate and the roomy's teen son. They play major parts in other books in this series, and the first book is great background. At times funny, this well written book tells the story of small town life in South Dakota, but could apply to many small towns across the country. Yes, there is graphic language and sex, but these characters are more real because of it--I son't see it as gratuitous.
I really love this first in the Series, and hope the next one will be even better!!!
Includes recipes and pointers for sushi bars
This was a great new discovery for me, I loved the subject matter, Tory is very smart and entertaining. Just enough romance and very colorful characters. charming small town stuff that great cozys are made of.
There aren't many amusements in little Delphi, South Dakota--and that suits Tory Bauer just fine. Widowed, over forty, and somewhat exceeding the surgeon general's weight guidelines, she's content to sling hash at the locals in the Delphi Cafe and craves no additional excitement. Her oversexed fellow waitress and trailer-mate Delphine, however, is always hungry for a new thrill. So when young, good-looking Mormon missionary Charles Winston brings his soul-saving fervor to the Cafe's table, Del's all over him like ketchup on fries, totally unconcerned about how her boyfriend--the dangerously short-tempered county deputy, Big Dick Albrecht--will react.
And it's Tory who has to clean up the sloppy mess left behind--because it's she who discovers Winston's corpse stuffed in a mop closet several days later. Tory's large appetitie for answers and natural talent for deduction are dumping her into a crockpot of lethal, long-simmering small town secrets. And if she's not careful, she'll wind up in the missionary's position: flat-out, stone-cold dead.
