OK OK - we all know the sad story of how he managed to ruin the last third of his career. Put that aside, if you can, and read this really wonderful book. Not only a cookbook - and frankly, not much of one either. It reads much better as an "insiders" guide to Christmas. Jeff Smiths' love for the festival and holiday simply pour off the pages. His research is spot-on and his way with words is well handled. Paint the cover black, forget who wrote this and just read it for what it is - a great book to enrich anyones' love of Christmas!
