Georgette Heyer was the original Regency romance writer, and nobody's topped her yet. This is one of her best. "Nimble, light-hearted...Almost too good to be true." -- The New Yorker

This was an absolutely charming story of a young man who marries the first female he meets after an exasperating discussion with his overbearing mother (about his not marrying the woman she wants him to). The characters are fun and extremely likable. The only negative, (and perhaps it's not really a negative, due to the fact that the book was written in 1936 after all) was the overall language and slang used. The book was at times difficult to "get the meaning" of what was said. Overall, I laughed out loud, and I loved it. without anyone having sex!! How refreshing!
