The synopsis on the back of the book has some slightly misleading statements. I am still mulling over this book's plot. It portrays a future that is either sleazy or bigoted, with virtual devices that have communication and visual abilities. The slang is different, like surfer talk, but I caught "grokked" in chapter 6 (a tribute to Heinlein?). The chapters focus on different characters that are part of the story, and at different times. Some of the terminology is nerdcentric, and I found I was glossing over that.
I kept reading and it was pretty good, but maybe I should have started with Software or Wetware; I would have been more familiar with the characters.
