I believe this whole series is very important. These are stories from rural and mountain people, and as they interact with the students of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee school one can't help but be touched by the ingenuity and perseverance shown. Although in many cases written phonetically to preserve the dialect, these people come across as anything but dumb or backwoods.

I grew up in Rabun County Ga, and many of the people in this book are friends and family of friends. These books are an important resource for keeping alive the stories of the way things were and for some, the way things may still be.
This volume,2, includes ghost stories, spring wild plant foods, spinning and weaving, midwifing, burial customs, wagon making, wagon wheel making, how to make an ox yoke as well as stories on indiviviiduals.

Fantastic book series.

I really like these books. I enjoy learning about the old way of doing things and how people used to live. I think they are great. I hope to be able to collect all these books.
