Two of my favorite subjects under one cover. Early American history and gardening. I have read other books about some of the founding fathers and know of their love of gardening. This book focuses on their passion for it and how and why they planted and landscaped their plantations/farms and where they obtained their plants. Back then they were starting to discuss how there is a balance in nature and we can't mess with it. Why does it seem like that is a newer subject? Excellent book to read as spring approaches. I can't wait to get outside and garden.

PS. I found it interesting how so many plants were brought into our country from England and France and visa versa. I wonder how that messed up the balance?
