Written in Asimov's unmistakable style.
"Foundation's Edge" is the fourth written in the series of seven. It is sixth in sequence because the last two written were a pair of prequels. Despite the fact that the first three were written in the 40s and 50s, and the last four in the 80s and 90s, the series hangs together as a whole because Asimov had a common vision about the whole thing and because Asimov is a good-enough writer to pull the whole thing off. Every SF fan has his favorite Asimov SF story (mine happens to be the short story "Nightfall") but every SF fan also has to know the "Foundation" series in toto. It is part of The Canon of SF.
