Dick Francis is one of my favorite authors, and I've rarely been disappointed with his books. This is one of his earlier books, so some of the discussion regarding any technology will probably be out of date.

Annotation:

James Tyrone, a racing reporter for a London scandal sheet, suspects foul play when a fellow writer, who had a penchant for drink--but was always an honest sort--dies in an "accidental" fall. Tyrone finds clues to his death in some suspicious columns touting some can't-lose horses--who mysteriously failed to show up on race day.

This book was quite good and an easy read. I've always enjoyed Dick Francis' novels, although I know very little about the sport of horse racing. This book is fast paced and kept me interested from page 1 thru the end.

This is REALLY good. About a journalist with a crippled wife who gets pulled into a horse racing scam and tries to expose it while his life is endangered. The characters are all fascinating, and you really care about the protaganist. A pageturner -- took me about a day to read it.

A little different from the typical Dick Francis.
