This book is comprised of a series of short stories. My favorites are Casino, Quiet Haven and Funny Boy. Grishams's storytelling is excellent..reminding me why I initially loved his books. Grishan developed his characters quickly yet fully so their actions were understandable. Funny boy is a moving story that captured the uneasiness of the time when people didn't know very much about AIDS, and how they treated people with AIDS. In a normal situation, Emporia and Adrian would not have become friends, and especially would not develop reciprocal feelings of compassion, devotion and loyalty. Yet they did with Emporia letting him live his last days with dignity, something his family would not give him.

It was an easy read, but I was a little disappointed in the content. The storylines were pretty shallow.

the last story is by far the best. maybe if i had read it first i would have liked the others better if that makes sense. the first ones had me ready to quit reading the book. they wernt a typical grisham book to me.

Seven short stories from John Grisham. Each story is outstanding and some of them take a slight twist at the end. What I liked about this book is the fact that it was all short stories and I could take it to work and read one story during my lunch period each day and in 7 days, I had finished the book.

A handful of stories featuring an ecclectic collection of characters from a rural southern county. Since these are short stories you shouldn't expect real in-depth story-lines. However, if you want a peek into small-town, backwoods America this is a great read. You will find both humor and pathos and realistic characters. I am not generally a big Grisham fan, but I would recommend this book.

This book was a collection of short stories, which was not of the quality expected from Grisham. It appeared he was struggling to tell any kind of story and just pushed the plot to just an ordinary ending. I was not impressed, I even tried and took my time to read all stories, not one was that good.

Seven short stories from John Grisham. It's a easy to read and it short, easy to follow though the story. For me the one stand out the most is a Casino...Over all I enjoyed it
This collection of short stories is a first for John Grisham. He continues to be one of the best story tellers around. His stories evoke sadness, tragedy, and humor while not ignoring pithy social commentary. His creation of vivid characters is second to none and he accurately describes the social dynamics of small town America. Good job. Well done.

Several good short stories, with great characters. One of my favorite things about John Grisham are his characters , and there stories are full of them. You will recognize Clanton, Mississippi, the setting from previous books. A great way to spend an afternoon, curled up with a Grisham book.
I found the stories just okay ... disappointing at best. Nothing really grabbed me here!

I am a new discoverer of John Grisham, and while there are books that I had a hard time getting through, this is one of my favorites.
Short stories- written engagingly, if you agree with the characters or not, the stories move quickly.
Great reading if you need just a little filler book, and don't want to stay up all night to finish!
