I admit it, I wasn't expecting to much of this book when I sat down to tear into it. I mean, it was based off a video game after all, so the plot would probably be stretched. But I am an avid Star Wars fan, so I was going to read it anyway.
Surprisingly, this book was very entertaining. I have never read anything by Sean Williams before, but I found his prose very inviting. Some of the conversations were corny in places, but he is great at inner monologue. The book wasn't dumbed down, nor was it wasn't trying to be something it was not. It was a great story of finding oneself, falling in love, and becoming a hero.
As far as the content goes, I haven't played the video game. But, talking to some who have, it sounds like it is pretty much the same storyline wise. In the greater Star Wars Mythos, it is pretty much the beginning of the rebellion against the Empire. As such, it is added to the Star Wars fan's required reading list. You will run into some familiar faces along the way. And, while the end was not shocking (pardon the pun), it was entertaining from start to finish.
