I usually enjoy Susan Johnson, but the middle 1/3 of this book is all about the Duc trying to get a divorce, & how nasty his wife is - a real downer.

Not her best book. The first two of this series were fast-paced, sexy and historically interesting. I think this one lacked all three.
For those of you who've read the Braddock-Black series, this is book three. I really liked reading the Duc de Vec and Daisy's story. This is one of the first novels which shows the heroine as a strong, independent woman who isn't just out for marriage and a family. I like that!

I didn't care for this story much. Daisy & Etienne are held up as perfect martyrs, while Etienne's wife is a she-devil. So unbelieveable. The characterization really suffers in this book.
