Very quick read. The descriptions of the food alone are worth reading the book. As you read, Ugo's frenetic thinking carries you along.

When hungry peasant Ugo DiFonte is snatched away from his farm, along with his daughter, he expects to be killed. Instead, he finds himself as food taster for the Duke.

He needs to avoid being poisoned by the many enemies of the despotic Duke, and protect his beautiful and fast maturing daughter.

A fun read.
